Our Work
Since our inception in 2007, over 20,000 young people have been empowered to lead in ministry, reaching over 250,000 with the Good News of Jesus Christ. in all that time our mission of empowering young people has not changed. here are some different ways we have and continue to meet this mission.
By AGE
Our vision of seeing the next generation of Christian leaders developed by the local church requires us to work with entire congregations to complete this task. Even though our focus is on young people, our work is necessary for all age groups in a church. This congregational approach also leads to generational discipleship which can impact the lives of generation after generation. As a matter of fact, one of the principles we love is SLAMM (Student-Led, Adult-Mentored Ministry). Here is how we work with each group to accomplish our mission:
Children (ages 4 - 12) - Our programs and training are designed to develop their knowledge of Scripture and how they can live as resilient followers of Jesus. This starts with helping them understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also want to let them know there is a place for them to serve in their church starting now. This age can participate in our Base Sports program at their local church.
Youth (10-18) - We start developing the importance of actively living out their faith in all of the communities they are a part of. This begins with teaching them how to articulate the gospel and share their faith in Jesus Christ. At this age, we also teach many skills for ministry to people in their church and community. For local training and involvement, Base Sports gives opportunities for youth to start their leadership journey in their local context while Base Missions gives a taste of authentic ministry around the globe.
Young adults (16 - 25) - Our options focus on Scripture to help them live on mission with where God is leading them. This starts with an understanding of how the gospel and testimonies can shape the lives of others. Even though we believe younger people can lead in ministry, the servant-leadership principles we teach this age group to allow for a better understanding of leading others as they serve. This can include anything from a week serving with a local church or joining a short-term mission team. We also have longer opportunities for individuals who are interested in serving alongside churches around the world.
Adults (21+) - We believe that training adults will lead to better empowerment of young people to live and share their faith. We use Scripture to help them understand the need to reach and disciple young people in communities around the globe. Our training emphasizes the clarity of the gospel, the need to proclaim it to those around us, and equipping youth to do the same. We also teach how to lead ministries that go beyond ourselves into the rest of the church and the communities they serve. By Region
North America
Since 2007 Base Ministry has served the church of North America by training and mobilizing young people. We have worked with churches in 38 US states, one US territory, four Canadian provinces, and four Mexican states. Currently, we offer resources, training, and ministry support throughout North America for missions and sports ministries. We have two sister organizations in North America: Base USA and Base Mexico.
South America
One of our original partner fields, South America has been instrumental in the story of Base. We have worked with churches and local missionaries in Brazil, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Peru. This area of the world is hungry to send missionaries and we are excited to offer training and relationship with churches throughout the region. Currently, we have our sister organization in Lima, Peru where the ministry efforts are focused on mobilizing the Peruvian church for mission throughout the region and world.
Europe
We have worked with many different missionary partners all over Europe through sports training and short-term teams. We have striven to serve the long-term vision of local church leaders and missionaries. One of the most spiritually starved regions of the world, the church of Europe needs more Christian leaders. Asia
As the most populous continent, this area has been in huge need of leaders in the church and is slowly becoming one of the largest missionary sending areas in the world. We have run training with churches in Nepal as well as helped churches in South Korea use English as an outreach ministry. There are opportunities for many short-term mission trips here to further the Gospel work that is going on.
Africa
Many of our missionary partners in Africa have used short-term teams we have sent as a catalyst to train youth into leaders and mobilize them to reach the local communities they serve. Working alongside Awana, we have seen sports used as a ministry tool throughout the southern region of Africa.
