What We Believe
God
We believe in one God, who exists in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - the Trinity. God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler over the universe. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus
Jesus Christ is God's only Son, fully human and fully divine. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and came to earth so that He could die for the sins of the world. After His death on the cross, Jesus rose again on the third day and now sits in Heaven at the right hand of God, interceding on behalf of those who know Him as their savior. (Luke 1:26-38; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Philippians 2:5-8)
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and indwells all people who have placed their trust in Christ for their salvation. He is our Comforter, Counselor, and the seal of salvation for those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ. (John 14:15-17; Ephesians 1:13-14)
The Bible
The Bible is the perfect and complete written word of God. It was written and formed through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the authority by which all Christian believers order and conduct their lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)
Mankind
In the beginning, God created mankind – male and female – in His image. Humans were created to have a perfect relationship with God, but due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve, sin and death entered the world. As a result, all mankind has inherited a sin nature, is deserving of death, and the perfect relationship between humans and God was – and continues to be – broken. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23, 5:12)
Salvation
No one is deserving of God’s favor nor can we do good works to restore our relationship with Him and earn life. Instead, God has provided one way for our relationship to be restored: through faith in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus, and all who place their trust in Jesus’ death on the cross for the forgiveness of their sins and His resurrection from the dead will have eternal life. (Acts 16:31; Romans 3:23, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10)
Church
All who believe in Jesus are part of His Church. While all believers are a part of the global Church, each believer should be regularly involved in the worship and service of a local church. We believe the local church is God’s plan for communal worship, discipleship, and sharing the Gospel. We believe para-church organizations (like Base Ministry) should come alongside to support the local church, but are not churches themselves. (Hebrews 10:24-25; Romans 12:5; Acts 2:42)
Marriage & Sexuality
God created marriage to be exclusively between one man and one woman. This expression of marriage is intended to provide a picture of Jesus Christ’s relationship with His church. In addition, God created sexual intimacy to be enjoyed within His design for marriage. All sexual activity outside of a marriage relationship between one man and one woman is sin. (Genesis 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:21-33; 1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5)
Resurrection
One day Jesus Christ will return to earth to judge the living and the dead and create a new heaven and new earth. Those declared righteous by faith in Jesus will inherit eternal life while all others will go away to eternal punishment. (Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-21:5)
